My Students
The students in this specialized high school for math, science, and engineering are just as passionate about music as they are about the sciences. These students have enrolled in the Jazz Band elective and are eager to improve their musicianship and expand their repertoire. They have a keen sense of what it takes to be successful and are not afraid to work hard to master a skill or musical work.
Students come to class eager to play and use every minute of rehearsal time performing and arranging jazz standards.
Many have had private lessons and have been playing in school and other bands for years. Together they push themselves to make music together every second they are in the music room.
The school has been recognized for being the most diverse of any New York City high school with a population of 32% Asian, 24% white, 24% Hispanic and 18% African American. This diversity, along with their shared interest in working hard, makes for a dynamic educational community. On-campus students learn from each other academically and culturally. The music room is a great place for students to share their common interest in music.
My Project
The jazz band students need more music to play. These Jazz Combo Packs are music arrangements designed specifically for high school bands to excel. These Jazz Combo Packs are a terrific value because they include music scores for four different jazz standards with separate instrument parts for the price normally paid for one.
The students in the jazz band class are passionate and eager to learn and play music at a high level and need fresh material in our music library so they can progress to the next level.
These Jazz Combo Packs provide students with 12 new standards to explore and master.
