This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Getting Active. What does that mean for kindergarteners? In a nutshell it means play.
My students live in an impoverished area of Los Angeles.
All of my students receive a free lunch. We have very limited resources. Parents have limited resources as well. They do not have the means to take their children many places outside of the city. They usually just take their children to the park to stay active.
My Project
To help my students learn about getting active. I would like scooters to show them how fun it can be to exercise. They can learn and exercise at the same time with the balls, hula hoops, bean bags, ropes, and chalk. We can learn songs about counting, letters, and moving their bodies. They will learn academic vocabulary as they play.
These items would be an excellent addition to my curriculum.
For many teachers, teaching physical education can be very challenging without the proper equipment. These materials would enhance my students understanding that getting active can be fun and it can be very good for their health.
