My students need recycling bins in order to facilitate their school-wide recycling program which will serve as their service learning project.

My Students
How much waste does a school generate? Too much! My students are going to change that by facilitating the first ever recycling program at our school. We will be recycling paper, plastic bottles and cans in order to cut down on the overall waste of the school. Our goal is to recycle 40% of our waste.
My students are at-risk teens who face many barriers to graduation.
My job as a JAG Specialist is to teach them the employability and leadership skills they will need to enter the workplace as an exceptional employee. My students are not often exposed to philanthropic activities, so this recycling program will allow them to help their peers and community as well as show them what is means to give back and take care of their environment.
My Project
We are requesting recycling bins for the entire school. Our goal is to recycle 40% of the school's waste. Therefore, we need many receptacles for the paper, plastic bottles and cans we will be collecting. Our recycling program will hopefully inspire students, parents and community members to intitiate or accelerate their own recycling efforts at home.
My students need to see the value in helping others and their environment.
By doing so, they will become compassionate members of society and will realize how good it can feel to help others. As many of my students have never experienced this before, I feel this is an important life lesson to teach them before they graduate and enter the world after high school.
