This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We're a Title I school in El Paso, Texas with high rates of mobility, poverty and 83% of students on free or reduced lunch. I am a Special Education teacher that was moved for the 2019-20 school year, to a new self-contained class for students that need a modified curriculum.

Our students learn perseverance through hard work and effort in spite of learning difficulties. It takes them more time and effort but they do not quit!

My Project

I have a Social Skills class that is developed to help students with important aspects of interacting with their society. One of the most important values we practice is empathy.

Our classroom motto is Empathy Always!

In order to further develop this skill, we decided to try to help families and friends at our school that need help this winter. El Paso gets very cold in the winter and many of our students can't afford a winter jacket. So we decided to create a project here on DonorsChoose.org to try to get donations to get these items to help us help our community.
