This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.......Remember that one? Who doesn't, right? Well, my students won't without a reliable source of music! I have three CD players in my classroom, but they only work sporadically. And the disks often skip while the song is playing! My students could sure use an iPod!

My students come from a low socioeconomic community.

We are a Title 1 School. Most of the students at my school are English Language Learners and 100% of the students participate in the free breakfast and lunch program. My Kindergarteners are very enthusiastic and eager to learn. For most of them, Kindergarten is their first school experience. They make new friends, play new games and do things that they've never done before, like sing songs....in English. How exciting! Most of my students start school with very little experience with the English language. So learning the language through song is not only fun, but effective. They learn basic concepts through the songs we sing as well. It's exciting to see and hear my students singing their songs

My Project

Childhood is a time when we learn the basic skills needed to carry us into adulthood. Through songs and movement, my students will be able to learn the alphabet, numbers, days of the week other important information in a fun way. With a reliable source of music, I will be able to access all of the music that I already have on CDs and download even more. With budget cuts to education, it is difficult to buy new CDs for the classroom. And often times, the CDs have only a few songs that I utilize. With an iPod, I can also download educational Apps which my students can practice and review concepts that I have presented in class. What a bonus!

An iPod would allow me to be doubly effective as a teacher.

I'd be able to give them two gifts for life....music and fun (while learning.) Your donation to my project will help give my students a chance at the same fond memories that you had as a child. Be a star, give a twinkle.
