I have more students than Texas Instruments nSpire calculators this year and need two more so each student can use one.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach mathematics in a high needs high school - over 70% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. We serve a diverse population consisting of many recent immigrants from all over the world.
My students are very excited to be using the new handheld from Texas Instruments, the TI-nSpire. The menu-driven graphing calculator really helps them to understand abstract concepts, by allowing them to directly experience the result of changes to their mathematical model, and by viewing multiple representations of the same information. Last year I was fortunate enough to get a classroom set of these new nSpires, and almost immediately saw positive impact in student achievement.
But this year I have even more students on my roster. I'm not able to allow each student to use a calculator, but rather am forced to have them share. This is an awkward situation with some of the math explorations I've designed.
I need two more units in order to allow each student to work with his own nSpire. This will bring my resources to match my classroom roster.
The goal that drives all my lesson planning is student success. I've seen how effective the nSpire graphing calculator is in helping students to internalize and fully understand abstract mathematical concepts and relationships. Your contribution will help even the playing field for my students, so they can achieve to their potential in mathematics.
