My Students
Kindergarten is magical. It is a time when children learn to love learning. Kindergarten students thrive and maintain that love of learning through hands-on experiences and activities.
One thing our kindergarten program is lacking is engaging activities to use during our recess times.
We are often stuck indoors in the winter, sometimes for weeks on end. The kids get tired of the same things all the time. As I have begun to work with my students this year, I am noticing that many of them are struggling to hold a pencil or scissors correctly. I would love to be able to enhance this free choosing time during recess, with activities that will foster fine motor skill development in my students.
These activities will help them with hand-eye coordination, muscle control in their fingers and hands as they put together and take things apart, stack and build, catch and lace.
My Project
These activities will help to create a fun and engaging learning environment for my kindergarten students. Used for morning starter brain bins and inside recess activities, the games will help strengthen fine motor skills in my early learners.
I can't wait to see how excited they will get when I pull out the new activities each month.
Kids love seeing things come back to use again. Switching out the activities each month keeps things fresh and exciting, and kids love building.
The outdoor toys are also convenient enough that we can use them inside the classroom when our weather turns colder this winter, as well as using them outdoors while the weather is still nice. These activities would be a great way to brighten up my inside recess times both for my students and myself.
