My Students
“The question isn’t who’s going to let me; it’s who’s going to stop me?” – Ayn Rand
I teach 25 pretty awesome first grade students and I love each and every one of them.
Every one of these students are special and unique in their own way. Most speak fluent Spanish and are beginning to learn the English language. Some come from homes where a grandparent is their primary caretaker. A couple of students belong to our nutrition club, a program where students are sent home with a backpack of food to help feed their families over the weekend. But, while they have their own challenges, every single family sends their child to school prepared to learn every day. I take my job very seriously and want nothing but the best for my students. While I may have high expectations of behavior and student work, all of my students know I care about each one of them.
My Project
TIME For Kids is a wonderful resource to use in classrooms.
Using TIME magazine in the classroom, will integrate reading with other subject matter, such as; science, social studies, and even math.
Children will use these magazines when working individually, whole group, and in small group stations. The lessons that can be taught using the TIME For Kids magazines are endless. The children can learn so much about current events while improving their reading. We can also use these to help us with our writing on informational text.
Your support in helping this project to become a reality would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
