This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I want my first grade students to be passionate about their learning, to be goal seekers and to work hard as that what life is all about, to be able to succeed in life one needs to know how to read and write.
"Learn as though you would
never be able to master it;
hold it as though you would be in fear of loosing it."
Confucius
Our school is a Title I school with 100% free breakfast and lunch.
I want to be able to give my students the best education.
My Project
More than three-quarters of my students come from low socio economic homes. Buying reading materials is not a top priority for most families I have. Having TIME For Kids as reading materials that my students can use at school and take home to read with their parents would be amazing.
I have so many hats to wear as a first grade teacher.
But one of my biggest hats is to teach my students to have a love for reading. To do that it's imperative to have fun, exciting, interesting reading material!
In the past my first graders have been so excited to get a new magazine to read. That they can practice reading it at school and then take it home to read to their parents.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
