Help me give my students Time 4 Kids. It is a great way to add excitement and differentiate learning for my students with the varying grade levels of materials.
I teach in a low-income school district with not a lot of resources. Many of my students do not have the opportunity to travel abroad and some do not have computers or even the internet unless provided by the schools. The last two years were extremely difficult being at remote and then hybrid. They are all beyond thrilled to be back to a somewhat "normal" start to the school year. I want to get them off of technology and reading different types of literature.
Books, magazines, etc.
are all better when experienced at your fingertips. These students are fun-loving, inquisitive, and eager to learn everything they can about the world around them. They are like sponges and want to know as much as they possibly can about something new and exciting. Current events is always something that interests them. They hear so much on the bus and in the neighborhood and always have so many questions!
My Project
If my project is funded, many of my students who do not have books to read at home at their reading level will now have something to enjoy. All of my students are struggling readers and many speak English as their second language so to see them excited about reading something interesting is wonderful! Reading these magazines will allow them to thoughtfully contribute to conversations going on at home, with each other, and in their classrooms. Time 4 Kids is a great way to get my students excited about reading and practicing their comprehension skills!
