My Students

It's the little things that add up to big things. I need lots of little things to help create students who create big things!

I have a super great group of boys who happen to have autism.

We are currently working on both fine and gross motor skills, but are lacking simple supplies. We are in a high poverty school with very little funding for extras that will help expand our students' learning.

My Project

My students have many strengths and weaknesses, and I need simple items to increase our learning and skills so my students can create a big impact. My students have a love of hands-on learning and creating. I need to supply my room with some simple items to encourage this. I have requested adapted scissors, crayons, fidgets, peg play set, puzzle disc, step-a-stones, construction paper, and a pencil sharpener to help with motor skills. These items will allow my students to be able to cut independently, work on strengthening fine motor and gross motor skills, and create projects. One project I have in mind is posters showing what they have learned from our stories or lessons. I also am asking for items that will allow my students to focus while I or their teachers are teaching. These items will help my students be able to learn while working in the general education setting next to their peers. I cannot wait to see my kids calm down after walking on the sensory buckets and then sit down and make a poster independently because they have adapted scissors they can use without help and they all paid attention to our lesson.

All of my boys are hands-on when it comes to learning. They also want to accomplish tasks on their own. To help encourage this I am requesting items that will assist my hands-on learners.
