Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach visual arts in a Title 1 School in Tucson, Arizona. Each year I try to make do with a $150 dollar budget for about 120 students. This means using donated and recycled supplies as well as some clever and thrifty shopping on my end.
My classroom desperately needs student-grade artist paper that would enable them to have an authentic drawing and painting experience.
Copy paper just doesn't produce the same results. My students are thrilled with the outcome of their artwork when they can use items such as real watercolor and drawing papers as well as colored pencils that represent all of their unique skin tones.
Also, the addition of some clay wedging/rolling boards will enhance their learning to work with clay. Without these boards, their projects stick to the table.
