My Students

Our school is a kindergarten through 8th-grade school in the Fairmount area of Philadelphia. Most of the special education students are bused to school. They are from all areas of Philadelphia. This project will benefit two Autistic Support classrooms. The students truly look forward to coming to school each day. They are eager and ready to learn! They also look forward to spending time with their peers. The classroom is one big family. We treat each other with love and respect. The classroom is like a home away from home.

My Project

Recess serves as a necessary break from learning and classroom routines. Recess can in turn offer cognitive, social, emotional and physical benefits to the students. Research has shown that when students have recess, they are more likely to be on task in the classroom. Students who engage in recess have shown improved memory and focus inside the classroom.

The students look forward to recess each day.

The students do not have much to play with in the recess area, which also serves as a parking lot. Students will often bring balls from home to play with.

The variety of balls, jump ropes, and activity sets will allow students to engage in play with their peers. Please help give our students something to play with during their highly anticipated recess time!
