This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help to keep us safe and entertained! My students do not have the equipment necessary to play in their assigned areas during recess time.

My students attend a school in a low-income area south-east of Los Angeles.

These twenty-one first graders are energetic and ready to let it out during play time. Like all children they look forward to recess but because of the lack of equipment they are not interested in staying in their area and instead run around all over the playground or don't play at all. Injuries are taking place and students are not motivated to play in their designated area.

My Project

Having the proper equipment to play during recess will cut down in playground accidents and students getting injured because they are running around throughout the whole playground. They will be motivated and interested in playing in their assigned area, therefore cutting back in unnecessary injuries. They will love to play with the proper equipment and will be able to put teamwork into play. They will learn how to cooperate with one another and the importance of teamwork.

With the rising number of obesity in children, our students need to be motivated to play and get fit.

Being physically engaged in activities will help them not only physically, but also to be prepared to return to class ready to learn.
