This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In my ancient history class, I work hard to make sure my content is relevant to my students of diverse backgrounds. In each unit, we make connections between the distant past and the present day. We learn about ancient social classes in Egypt and India and relate them to the history of American racism and class. We study the philosophies of ancient China and argue which would be best applied to our middle school context.

After learning about the Silk Road in ancient China, students will be researching, creating, and presenting posters to their families that highlight a modern-day problem of globalization and their group's proposed solution.

To make this possible, I am asking for support in purchasing a set of trifold poster boards that students can use to present their research, images, and arguments. I am also requesting some books that will help students to further understand complex issues such as renewable energy, climate change, and global pandemics.

I love end-of-year presentations to families and my students do too! These posters will help take our projects to the next level and ensure that students create a final product that they are proud to take home.
