This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a second grade English Language Development teacher at a low performing, low income school in San Francisco. The students in my classroom represent every minority and majority group in our community. They are great kids who have to overcome many obstacles just to come to school.
Funding is so tight at our school, so we don't have any budget to buy anything non-essential. But I think that having fun is essential. New games for our classroom will put the play back in play time.
Our classroom needs some new rainy day/ free time games. These games will bring the fun into our classroom, even when the weather outside isn't so fun. Don't you remember when you played Candyland, Connect Four and Memory? Wouldn't it have been cool to have a working cash register in your classroom when you were in 2nd grade? Well, you can help build those kind of memories for my students by funding our project.
I know that if you are reading this you believe in bringing the fun to our kids in school. You can bring the fun back to our classroom by donating these games. Your donation will put smiles on the faces of 20 kids this year and more in the years to come, won't you help us?
