My project needs a teacher grammar resource book as well as books and CDs for my students to use to improve their skills.

You always hear, "It's not what you say, it's how you say it." In my room, however, my classes grammar is so below grade level, that though they have great thoughts they are not heard - or read - because the reader cannot get past the grammar to understand the content. I am a fifth grade teacher, teaching all major subjects, and am in a focus, low-income elementary school.
My students are wonderful writers. They are descriptive, creative, thoughtful, and engaged. However, they are not grammatically correct! I learned this in part when we wrote thank you notes for a previous donorschoose.org proposal. They have fantastic stories to tell, but so far to go to improve the way that they write. They have not been taught nouns or verbs, or how to use commas appropriately. Some students, in fifth grade, still do not capitalize letters at the beginning of a sentence.
The most important resources for me are teacher led grammar texts that teach a specific skill that the students can then practice in their individual workbooks. Additionally, a grammar CD will engage my students and make the grammar-learning-process more enjoyable and memorable.
Your contribution will make my students finally get the credit they deserve. No longer will someone see their work in the hallway and scoff at the structure or spelling, but will immediately appreciate what has been great all along - the content!
