This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our Title I school does not have what we need to ensure students have an actual book in their hands. To give students the classics, but in a fun way is my passion. This novel set will give students a chance to experience Steinbeck without zoning out on a computer. The book in hand offers so much more student engagement and classroom participation. In addition, with a 68% underserved student population, I would like to offer colored pencils that match skin tones and not have students feel left out because traditional colors don't work for them.
Student engagement is often higher when our students know that we care about all the details.
It is important to give students a balance of new reading material as well as introduce the classics because themes and content from the classics are foundational to modern literature. I want to give my students a love for the classics and memories that will last a lifetime by putting an actual book in their hands. Thank you for your support.
