My Students

This year, I am blessed to be the teacher of 19 spunky kindergarteners who love coming to school each day! We are a part of a Title I school where all students receive free and reduced lunch. The campus, classroom furniture, and resources are often old and outdated because our resources are allocated to meeting some of the higher needs of our students.

Although many of my students face challenging obstacles, I believe that our classroom is a safe and warm place where students can learn and grow.

My group of students this year especially love to sing, dance, learn about dinosaurs, listen to stories, and so much more! We love to begin and end our days with singing and playing the ukulele.

My Project

Our classrooms are tiled and therefore teachers need to purchase their own carpet if they want their students to be comfortable when they meet together on the floor. Currently, my 19 students meet on a 4 ft. by 6 ft. carpet that was purchased 5 years ago. In the years that I had more than 20 students, not everyone was able to fit on the carpet during our meetings on the carpet.

Unfortunately, carpets that are often big enough for all students are highly priced and the decently priced carpets are too small and not high in quality.

This carpet, big enough for 30 students will become a great meeting place for my current and future students! It will allow for my students to be comfortable in their own personal box, become a place where students can work in small or large groups, and the quality of this carpet will be able to to endure small feet, hands, and bodies!
