it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
PreK is more than just playtime and naps. It's about being exposed to new ideas and objects and experiences. It's about learning to use all of our senses in order to experience the world. Sensory activities are one of the strongest tools in a preschool teacher's arsenal. They not only help us teach new concepts, but the children love the experience of playing with different textures and consistencies. Currently, we have been using trays and bins on the table. This does limit some activities, not to mention, it's messy and doesn't promote the independence that we want the children to attain. I would love for the children to walk up to the sensory table, pick their space, grab the tools they want to use, and then put everything away once they are done. I want them to feel ownership over everything in the classroom. This specific sensory table will really help boost their independence and enhance the types of activities that I can create for the children at that center.
