FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Fultz's classroom raised $276
This project is fully funded
Hello! I am the proud teacher of 2nd graders at a 98% poverty urban school. Our class is made up of a diverse population, each bringing their own experiences to enrich our lives. They all have one thing in common: the desire to learn. My students are enthusiastic about learning new things especially when it comes to math and science.
Last year we implemented a new method for math using work stations and small groups. Although our curriculum is the same, we have decided that using small group instruction is much more effective than a whole group setting. This ensures that students are getting their specific needs met. While I am meeting with students in a small group, the rest of the class works on the same math skill at different stations around the room. This includes problem solving and computers, as well as a game.
Students learn better when they use manipulatives and enjoy what they are doing. Using games and the materials provided will allow their understanding of basic mathematical concepts to increase.
You will make it possible for my students to increase their math skills. Although many take the ability to do simple math for granted I can tell you firsthand that it is not so easy for some. Hands on learning will deepen their understanding and help students become much more enthusiastic about math.
