This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a school-based occupational therapist, I work with students ranging from preschool to 5th grade, providing support to those who experience difficulties with motor skills and sensory processing. My role involves helping students develop the fine and gross motor skills needed for daily tasks, as well as assisting them in regulating sensory input to enhance their learning and participation in the school environment.

The Jelly Blox Vrooom is a versatile sensory and fine motor tool that can be highly beneficial in my classroom, especially for students who need support with sensory processing and motor skill development.

It will encourage hand strength, finger dexterity, and coordination, which are essential for writing, cutting, and manipulating classroom tools. It will also help my students develop grip strength and bilateral coordination through pushing, pulling, and squishing motions. These Jelly Blox can be incorporated into play-based learning activities to enhance engagement. It encourages exploration and creativity, keeping students actively involved in their learning. These blocks will be used in small groups to encourage teamwork, communication, and turn-taking. It will help my students develop problem-solving skills as they manipulate and experiment with different ways to use the material.
