My Project
This project will help me provide more healthy fruit and protein options to my students. Food insecurity is unfortunately a real and present problem in the US, and I see it regularly in my classroom as well. It is really hard to learn if you are hungry, or worrying about if you will have enough food to eat when you get home.
Growing minds and bodies need regular nourishing to thrive and be their best at school!
We are fortunate that a free breakfast and lunch is available to all children in my school (for now), and we have created a food pantry here that families can access if they need to. Despite these very positive and helpful programs, bringing a snack from home to eat at snacktime is something that often does not happen. This project will allow me to help fill that gap and be sure their little bodies and brains get the nourishment they need all day!
