This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
CHEVRON CLASS CHALLENGE! My students want to learn about melting and boiling points by doing laboratory investigations.
My students are an active and curious when it comes to learning new things in science.
My students are from a high needs community where funding for science supplies and activities is sometimes not a priority. My students want to do experiments, but often I can not provide them with the supplies they need.
My Project
Learning about melting points and boiling points can be a confusing concept. Especially when my students must learn it from a textbook and graphs. If my students can actually record and document the time it take different substances to melt they will gain a better understanding of temperature, densities and the changes in the states of mater.
In this project students will investigate how three phases of water (solid, liquid, and gas). They will record how long it takes each phase to change and at what temperature. In another investigation, students will investigate the melting points and boiling of common substances in their daily.
After the investigation, students will be able to apply how molecules vibrate and move differently for solids, liquids and gases of any substance.
Your donation will allow my students to better understand a concept that can be confusing.
My students will already know and have completed a project on Archimedes principal. This project will be the next step in their understanding of the states of matter. You donation can turn my classroom into a dynamic and active learning environment.
