My Students
My students come from a high poverty area. They face many challenges at home and in school. Many of them are lacking in basic school supplies. Most are low academically, but they come to school every day ready and eager to learn.
I want my students to have the best third grade experience possible.
Our school budget is very small and I buy a lot of materials myself. and I need some help to give my students what they need to be more successful in the classroom. I cannot control what my students experience outside of school, but while they are in my classroom, I strive to provide them with everything I can to make them feel cared for and successful.
My Project
I am requesting a variety of games, including Mobi and Bingo, and other resources for my students to use during our math and literacy centers. The math games will help reinforce a variety of topics that we cover throughout the year, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions and money. The literacy games will be used to help with parts of speech, spelling and sight words. I am also requesting a variety of books to help me grow as a teacher in the areas of math and literacy.
Learning should be fun and these games will allow students to have fun while reinforcing the concepts that we are working on.
These games will help to foster independence in my students who have already mastered the concept we're working on and push their thinking further. They will also allow an alternative and engaging approach for my students who are struggling.
