Hello! I teach third grade students, in a high risk, high poverty community. Our school is a Title 1 school. All students are on free or reduced lunch.
In my years of teaching I have noticed that my students have problems communicating and discussing things with each other in a safe, productive way.
I believe that the use of board games and computer games will help increase socialization and communication skills between my students. This will be a way for students to talk and converse with each other and promote healthy competition. It is also my belief that as they learn how to better relate with one another they will become more engaged in the classroom. A greater level of classroom engagement leads to greater retention of the lessons being taught.
As an educator it is my responsibility to not only teach the academic core, but also to help prepare my students for all aspects of life. Your help will ensure that my students understand competition can be healthy and fun. You will help ensure that they learn to communicate with each other in healthy ways.
