My Students
My students love to explore Physical Science chemistry in our laboratory, (especially exploding compounds in an Erlenmeyer flask!).
It is now time to explore the Periodic Table elements through a proper library of books.
The books we have in mind all come from one author: Theodore Gray.
This project aims to discover what my students can learn about hands-on chemistry through Gray's pithy text and sumptuous, color photographs of each element and compound.
Do I think this project is vital for all students in 6th and 8th grades? You bet your bunson burner I do!
My Project
Normally, science laboratory is not a book-centered pursuit. Maybe I should say, rather, that doing science experiments has a smidge more educational value than reading about science experiments.
This project aims to capture the energetic zeal and verve of our chemistry experiments in book form!
And, the books of Theodore Gray are literally designed to capture the visual imaginations of young scientists.
With this new library, our chemical scientists may witness, in glorious color photography, what the elements of the Periodic Table, their compound molecules, and their possible chemical reactions, look like in advance!
Why is this so important! Because chemistry is active and ongoing, and young scientists deserve a vibrant introduction to this branch of science.
