My Students
The students I teach are between 10th and 12th grade. The students in my class have a clinical diagnosis of severe emotional disturbance. They are in a single classroom all day because they have a hard time interacting with peers and adults.
I am entering my 8th year as an ED teacher, and my students are the most inspirational students I know.
They all have hardships at home. Their lives are filled with poverty, drugs, gangs, and other difficulties. Our school is a career tech high school, and all of our students are being educated to be career and college-ready.
Typically, my students are referred to as the "Bad Students," which is the farthest from the truth. They need someone on their side. In our class, we have created that space for our students. Now that they feel comfortable with us, we want to give them the same opportunities as their peers. We believe in them.
My Project
I am currently asking for an extension cord and surge protector bar because the space I use with my special education students is a small room with minimal outlets. To offer the comfortable environment we need to expand the outlet options by using the items requested. The extension cord and surge protector bar will provide multiple outlets and accessible electricity for laptops and printers allowing students and teachers easy access to the electricity in the room. The extension cord and surge protector bar would help my students and myself this school year. I have also included strips for the floor, and a cell phone charing station.
