Automaticity is the ability to quickly, accurately, and effortlessly organize words while reading. It is the key to fluency and comprehension for our young scholars. My students need a way to review sight and high-frequency words independently while in small groups. I know that reading practice is the best way to build word recognition. Using the iPad, students will be able to view phoneme-grapheme on a sound-letter level that will aid their development. Using the apps on the iPad for word drills, air writing, and segmenting/blending will give students confidence as the year goes on. Providing additional time for students to practice independently will build their phonemic awareness and mapping skills.
Moving our Scholars in the Right Direction!
Inspired is how you feel when you walk through our school doors. Our core values of academics, community, pride, and justice allow us to advocate for all within this urban neighborhood by extending compassion and partnering with families to nurture lifelong learners, critical thinkers, and responsible citizens through STEM/STEAM, performing arts, visual arts, athletics, coding, computer science (CS), financial literacy, and social-emotional learning (SEL). We receive federal funding for programs that provide free breakfast/lunch for every student, and Title I services to economically disadvantaged individuals. Our inclusive class serves military families, gifted/talented students, ESL/ELL students, special education students, and tech-savvy students.
