This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are bright, inquisitive and eager to learn!
Our school is in a diverse part of town so our students come from very different cultures and varied socioeconomic situations.
The largest portion of my students are from an impoverished neighborhood. They are very happy with any little thing you give them since they have so little at home. They are very excited about Art and many of them have never even been to a museum. I want them to get the most out of my class. I feel like art will definitely benefit them in the future and they will remember me for all I have taught them.
My Project
We are designing monsters in the classroom! Like many of my art lessons, this project lets the students show their individuality. Having the opportunity to sew and embroider fabric with a classroom sewing machine and using the Cricut Maker to cut various materials, the students will be able to customize their creations and bring their creatures to life, in pillow form!
Using their unique drawings of monsters hiding under their beds, my students will enjoy the process from paper sketch to product(pillow) with the Cricut Maker and the sewing machine.
My students have tons of imagination and I would love to see what they can create with no boundaries.
