When students enter my class, it is often their very first school experience. They are boys and girls from very diverse backgrounds, with varying skills and abilities. Our classroom community welcomes all who enter to grow with us as we sing, dance, paint, share, eat, and learn.
Throughout the year we have many celebrations to recognize holidays, birthdays, and the wonderful accomplishments of our students.
My goal, as a teacher, is to expose all of my students to new and exciting materials and programs, regardless of their needs or backgrounds, in order to spark interest and creativity!
My Project
During my students pre-k year, they explore all of their five senses using various manipulatives. The sense of touch is an ongoing exploration, using everyday items around the classroom, including blocks, food, and liquids.Adding the requested sensory items, kinetic sand, play dough and sensory dough, will give my boys and girls greater exposure to the magic of the sense of touch. This also serves to enhance their fine motor skills.
Other benefits of having "touch play" include emotional calming, social interaction, verbal communication, and purposeful play.
Thank you for any help in supporting this project for my very curious learners!
