Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach science at a Title I school where 100% of our students receive free lunches. Many of my students come from low-income homes and many struggle both academically and personally.
I teach 135 students per day, and very few of these students have had an in-depth science education.
They are eager to learn, and 85 percent of their day is reading, writing, and math. Project-based learning is what keeps them motivated and wanting to learn more. These middle school students can do amazing things! These supplies will allow students to build, create and remain engaged in learning.
My Project
I teach and learn with a a fantastic group of 135 junior scientists each day. They look forward to science as a class that they can create, explore and experiment. Labs and project-based learning are key to successfully teaching students how to solve problems in the own lives.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help my students become problem solvers!
Having a lab with adequate supplies is expensive. However, watching a group of students create intricate models, draw detailed graphs, and take ownership for their own learning is priceless.
The droppers, paint, markers, pH strips, citric acid, aprons, and other lab supplies will last my students the entire school year. We will be making diagrams, creating graphs, and completing at least one large lab project per week. Your generous donation will allow us to reach that goal.
