This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Common Core State Standards call for language arts materials that are rich in content. Children should also use texts that they can read independently. Our classroom is in great need of fictional and informational books that will help children meet these Common Core Standards.
My first graders are excited about having fun and learning!
I would like to help them do both! Every one of my students is excited about becoming a good reader, and I want to help them reach their goals. With all of the cuts to education, it has become increasingly hard for teachers to come up with the right resources to meet all of the changing standards in an effective and fun manner. My classroom is no different. We need help coming up with the right materials to meet the rigorous State Standards.
My Project
These 27 books will help us meet the Common Core Language Arts Standards and more effectively discuss the issue of bullying. Several of the books are Common Core Exemplar books and are perfect for heightening the rigor that is required of the standards. Other texts will be excellent for me to read and discuss with the children, while still others will be great for the students to read independently. The combination of these books will give my class the opportunity to have a variety of fictional and informational texts to use in our classroom.
First grade is such a pivotal year in a child's education.
I would like to give my students the chance to meet the increased rigor of the English Language Arts Common Core Standards by using texts that are more involved and interactive. These books will give us just the boost that we need to help us learn to read in an interesting and fun way, while becoming Common Core ready!
