This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in my 4th and 5th grade special education class is very rigorous, and students are expected to focus for long periods of time. Most of my students struggle to focus for even 5 minutes!

My students are some of the hardest workers I know, and they are always eager to learn.

I work in a low income community where students cannot afford supplies and most receive free or reduced lunch. I strive to give them all that I can both academically and emotionally.

My Project

Math workstations are a necessary and vital part of our daily instruction. During this time, students work in small groups to complete math activity that helps to review critical concepts and skills. While students are actively engaged in these activities, I am able to pull small groups of students for further instruction.

Having interesting and hands-on activities during workstations will lessen the possibility of off-task behavior.

It will also increase my students' eagerness to learn. When students are excited about learning, they are able to grasp concepts a lot quicker and retain that information. These games will help them review any skills they still have not grasped.

The continued use of file folder and board games will foster independence in students. By choosing a range of grade specific games (1-5), groups of students will be able to review prerequisite skills.
