My Students

We are a small magnet school with a 'Medical' theme. Our students come from all over Hillsborough County, many traveling for hours by bus each day in order to attend our magnet program.

Our school is an 'achievement' school, which means that we are focusing on making great gains in academics.

As the Media Specialist, I focus on providing fun reading and STEM opportunities for all students.

My Project

Students from all grade levels K-5 come to the media center to enjoy the MakerSpace. Not only do they visit during lunch, but occasionally we use MakerSpace during specials time or as a reward or party to celebrate accomplishments.

Having hands-on activities to choose from is one of the most exciting aspects of being invited to use MakerSpace.

The students love to be surprised by new and different activities and it keeps it 'fresh' to have a new challenge. I would like to add some low-tech building activities to the choices because I have noticed that the students of all grades seem to prefer these.
