The learners in my school come from a wide variety of backgrounds and needs. My class has a large number of students with disabilities and special needs, including ESL, speech, occupational therapy, and physical therapy. These students, along with our regular education students who perform at or above grade level, create a unique learning environment.
Studies show that quality early childhood programming provides children with a great start to their school career.
Our goal is to provide a place to be creative and curious while also learning to be great people!
My Project
This sensory path will provide a way for my students to build proprioceptive skills while inside on cold days!
Proprioception is defined as: our awareness of our body and its position in space and is strongly correlated with sequential thinking, logic, and reading skills.
This sensory path will provide kinesthetic learners, and students needing regulation, a place to do heavy work, balance work and more while in the safety of our school hallway. All students in my building can benefit from its placement as well! The bright colors and longevity of this particular path will work well in our school hallway. The nature theme is especially perfect for the hallway outside of our school courtyard!
