Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing," Walt Disney said. If you fund our Donors Choose project, It's Alive, my students will be able to go beyond talking about what scientist do and become real scientists.

My students attend an urban school.

They are very culturally diverse. Many of my students are from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. They are eager to learn and have a strong sense of discovery. Due to limited funding sources, my students do not have as many opportunities for firsthand scientific experiences.

My Project

This project is very important because it will inspire students to become scientists. Students will be able to develop a hypothesis, observe, collect data, compare real results and from conclusions using the plants and insects. Supporting this project will steer the path of many students towards science careers. It is important that children see the value of and experience the scientific process firsthand. Seeing the organisms up close will spark a love for science and discovery that will impact their whole lives.

My students need live organisms and Wisconsin Fast Plant kits to observe and conduct experiments to enhance their learning in science.

My students will measure, graph, name, and describe their own unique plants. They will grow their "own" a confetti garden. They will raise butterflies from egg to adult. It is important for students to have hands-on experience and see experience the scientific process firsthand.
