This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend a STEAM Academy magnet school which focuses on integrating the Arts in all areas. Music is a fun and active class that they all enjoy as we sing, dance and play together.

My students love to explore, create and perform!

They crave active music making through singing, playing instruments, dancing and performing "on stage" in my room. Their imaginations are extensive, their energy is contagious and they are enthusiastic about all of my musical activities. My students are so ready to enjoy live music making together in person.

My Project

As an elementary Music teacher, I am often using group work to practice ensemble skills. My students struggle to keep a steady pulse and use a proper count off in time to the beat in order to successfully keep themselves together as they perform rhythms/instrument parts and create their own patterns to perform for their peers.

Teaching at a STEAM school, I want to encourage the historical look at technology and how metronomes have evolved while assisting students with the essential task of keeping perfect time in small group practice.

I am asking for a traditional metronome to use in whole group settings to demonstrate what the pulse looks like and a set of small digital metronomes that are easy for the students to use in their groups.
