This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
How can we make make Science and Social Studies more interesting for students? How can we integrate these content areas with Reading and have more fun? I think TIME For Kids is the answer!!
My students live in an area that has high poverty.
It doesn't get them down! The only problem is, they sometimes lack the background knowledge they need to succeed. They don't get to travel a lot. Many of our parents work multiple jobs and are limited to where they can take our kids.
My Project
With TIME For Kids magazine, they will be able to take trips through reading. These magazines are full of real world topics and exciting text features. The magazines will make non fiction a thrill for third graders! The magazines will meet standards in Social Studies, Science, and Math with a high interest to students. I plan on using the magazines in small guided reading groups as well as cooperative literature circles. They will be used across different subject areas in order to integrate content.
Your donation for TIME for Kids magazine will not be a waste!
My students will be able to develop a new backround knowledge of current events and issues. Growing the student's background knowledge is vital for years to come!
