It's a Different World

My students need large clear bins to hold the different worlds. My students need sensory materials for the bottom of the worlds: flat marbles, kinetic sand, and beans.

My Students

Wouldn't you love to explore different worlds? I would like to create sensory boxes with different child interests in mind. Sensory integration is an important part of a small child's development. Play is a child's natural way of learning. These boxes will combine both with a hands on experience.

Four year old kindergarten is a chance for kids to explore.

At this age children learn best through hands on experiences which occur most naturally during play. The sensory boxes will encourage the kids to use their imaginations and use a variety of tactile objects within their play.

My Project

The different materials will be used to make sensory boxes with different themes. These boxes will allow me to use more than just sand and water for sensory development. Each box will have a base material that represents the environment the "world" is in and objects that go with that world. The children will have the opportunity to play with the items and create their own uses for the materials. My students need large clear bins to hold the different worlds. My students need sensory materials for the bottom of the worlds: flat marbles, kinetic sand, and beans.

The boxes can help with more than using imagination and getting experience with different items.

Turn taking and important social language can be learned while playing with another child. Problem solving strategies that are taught in the classroom can also be practiced when the boxes are being used by more than one child. The learning opportunities are endless.
