My Students
Classical music? Blech! No, wait! Classical music? HURRAY! My students often have a predisposed dislike of classical music. I believe this comes from their lack of experience with it. I intend to open their minds and ears by letting them create the music with their own recorders!
I teach in a small, rural school district.
Community members often feel isolated as they must drive 20 minutes to the nearest town to buy groceries and other necessities. The community offers no local fine arts performance opportunities or musical venues. Students must travel over an hour for cultural events like concerts and art museums.
My students' classical music experiences are generally contained to their limited time in the music classroom. Due to the costly investment that joining band involves, few students are able to afford this opportunity to explore classical music.
My Project
My students need to experience classical music in a new way. They need to perform it, create it and embrace it. By utilizing the recorder during our classroom time students will learn to play pieces of classical music. This ownership of the music will open their minds to the exciting world of music and expand their musical palates.
By partnering with us in this endeavor you will be providing classroom recorders, recorder method books, special recorder collections for students who advance quickly and special tenor recorders for ensemble performances. You will literally be putting the music in their hands!
Won't you help us expand our musical experiences and make authentic music during our music class time?
Partner with us to bring the sound of classical music to the rural woods of Missouri. Creating musical experiences can be a powerful motivator to keep kids in school and learning. Let the music making begin!
