My Students

Today's technology is changing the way students think and respond to learning. My students need the tools to keep up with the fast pace of today's learning in order to be the leaders of tomorrow.

My students will use the iPad and Kindle I am requesting to improve our literacy centers, instruction, and testing.

The new technology will help them succeed in order to meet the growing demands of the Stem and Common Core standards of our district. My students are an eager and charismatic bunch of little learners whose curiosity is blossoming every day and they are ready to stretch intellectually. In the past, I always had a few students who were not as enthusiastic about books as the other children. With technology, I can motivate every child in order to help them achieve independent reading levels.

My Project

This iPad and Kindle Fire will be used in all aspects of the classroom. Students will be able to research topics, with teacher supervision, that we are covering in all subjects, from the Statue of Liberty to various shapes of trees. Students will be able to incorporate these tools during literacy time, by reading at their independent levels, learning letter sounds, and reinforcing high frequency words through engaging activities. These tools are especially helpful for my English language learners who need multiple opportunities to hear and see concepts come to life to help cement vocabulary. Ideally we would like to have a set of 5 iPads and Kindles in the room so that children can rotate and so that all will be able to tap into the latest technology. The new Common Core math standards pair perfectly with the myriad of math activities available on iPads in order to reinforce concepts taught in class.

The iPad mini and Kindle Fire will make a tremendous difference in our classroom.

Many of my students do not have access to the latest technology but they will be asked to be proficient with these tools later in life. They will be on the cutting edge of technology and know how to properly access the tools in order to enhance their learning and curiosity. Help me bring fun and choice back into kindergarten while still learning!
