My Students

Did you ever think that making copies for a classroom could be the challenge of a lifetime?? Well, my kindergarten class is fortunate enough to have a copier funded by DonorsChoose. Too bad we keep using it so much that we have run out of ink...AGAIN.

My Kindergarten students attend an inner city, Title 1 school in the heart of a major city.

These unique boys and girls face many daily challenges outside the walls of our safe school. As their teacher, I try to limit any challenges and create an environment of limitless possibilities for learning inside the four walls of my classroom. Throughout the year the class will be learning about a particular theme or topic that requires copies of activities that I find online. Many times I will even create activities that relate directly to what I am teaching. These pages need to be copied in order for the entire class to participate. Most times this cannot be done by the Main Office.

My Project

The most wonderful experience for me as a teacher is not a quiet group of children. It is not a class that raises their hand to answer a question. My most treasured asset is my copier. I use it so often each and every day that I have almost run out of toner for our copier yet again. This is my second cartridge I have and it was funded by DonorsChoose. The activities are limitless and the copies would be too if I was able to replace our current cartridge. It had lots of action last year with all our projects and I know it will get used just as much, if not more, this upcoming 2010 school year.

Please, please hear my plea for ink.

I love having access right at my finger tips of a simple supply that could put the world of learning at the fingertips of the boys and girls in my Kindergarten classroom. It is like having a beautiful Mercedes Benz to drive without tires. Help me to rev up my Canon copier with a new ink cartridge.
