My Students
Second grade means making new friends, learning new ideas, reading new books, solving new problems, playing new games, reaching new goals, making new mistakes, & having fun the whole way through!
We are a 2nd grade class of learners, readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, explorers and more!
I have a second grade class of fantastic students!
They are excited about learning, curious about new things, and just sweet kids all around. Our school is a wonderful community. Everyone is kind and willing to help one another in any way possible. This year our school theme is "Every Hero Has A Story." My students are learning that heroes don't just come in capes and masks, but they can be everyday people. In fact, they themselves can be heroes just by thinking of others.
My Project
I am requesting 2 iPads and 2 cases to practice their math facts and reading. It will also help them improve their fluency, word recognition, & vocab by using it to listen to reading.
My little heroes need two more iPads for our classroom. We are fortunate with the technology that we have, but two more iPads would go a long way. There are a multitude of apps out there to enhance our learning. In order to be good mathematicians, my 2nd graders need to be fluent in their math facts; Xtra math is a great app that will help them practice their facts and it helps me track their proficiency. To be good readers, we are learning that we need to pick good fit books. Raz Kids is another app that allows me to assign books at their just right reading level so they can practice their reading and become fluent readers. High frequency words are also key in becoming fluent readers; apps like Smiley Sight Words and Sight Word Ninja will allow my students to practice their automaticity with these words.
