it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"I believe children are the future. Teach them well and let them lead the way." These are not only words from a popular song but a strong belief that I hold as a teacher.
Equity for all!
My students are full of potential. They are bright shining beacons of light. I am asking for assistance so that they can glow like the stars that they are.
Fortunately, for the students in my class, envisioning the future is something we think of and talk about often. Because their daily existence is so challenging, I have them focus on their bright and delightful futures!
I teach in a low socio-economic area at a Title I school where 99% of the population receives free breakfast and lunch at school. On most days the heartiest and healthiest meals that the students receive are what they eat at school. It isn't unusual for the students in my class to stockpile food in their book bags to take home in order to have something to eat later that day.
Despite the harsh circumstances and backdrops of their lives, the students come to school daily with smiles on their faces.
My Project
My students live in the most socio-economic deficient neighborhood in the Bronx. Our community have been severely hit with Covid-19, police brutality and unfair and unjust legislation, that leave families impoverished.
My students sit in a classroom all day long; they eat breakfast and lunch in class!
In an effort to keep children safe, my school has restricted movement throughout the school building. Students only get up for bathroom breaks.
I need sanitizing supplies, to ensure that the classroom is a safe and germ free environment. Please Help Us!
