Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Shakuntala Devi said " Without mathematics, there's nothing you can do. Everything around you is mathematics. Everything around you is numbers." This quote has inspired me to provide my students with opportunities to be successful in math. I know that students who don’t have immediate recall of math facts spend much of their time on basic computations instead of learning higher order math skills. This is why I try to provide my students with the foundation they need to achieve their goals.
As an educator, I seek to provide meaningful learning activities to challenge their understanding of the world.
My students come from a variety of cultural backgrounds and the majority of them qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
My Project
My classroom is located in a state where it is too cold to go out during recess. From December through March we have to have in door recess. Instead of having students play on their computer, I would like to provide them with a variety of games to challenge their brains. I think the games I have chosen will encourage social skills and teach them how to interact with their classmates.
Games such as Jenga, Sorry and Connect Four will get the brain working while having fun.
I am also requesting a set of mind set games because I think it will have my students brains racking for a solution. Having a variety of board games will encourage and challenge my students to work together for a common goal, to win!
