My Students
Where do you like to sit and enjoy a good book? Your bed? A hammock? On your big, comfy couch? There are many places to enjoy a good book, but sitting on a cold, hard tile floor is probably not one of them.
I have 21 third graders, 16 boys and 5 girls.
We are a University Laboratory School and are located on the campus of a large University system in Louisiana. Since we are affiliated with the University, we do not get funding from the district. My students are very smart and very active. I enjoy going to work each day.
My Project
By having a carpet, my students will be able to sit comfortably on the floor to read to Themselves and with their peers. They enjoy reading so much and I feel terrible to see them sitting on the cold floor. We have a very large classroom and my students seem to sometimes get swallowed up. By having a carpet, they will be able to read comfortably and feel safe in a designated reading area.
My students are at a very vulnerable, impressionable age.
I am working hard to instill in them the love of reading and learning. I want them to feel comfortable in their learning environment and continue to foster their life long learning.
