I teach third grade in an elementary school in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Our school is a title one school. All our children get free lunch and most of them come from low income families that don't speak English.
Most of our children speak two languages and English is their second language. Many of the children work on their homework alone at home because no one speaks English. I want to help the children learn so much more, but their Phonics skills are very poor. Without the basic phonics skills, reading and writing is very difficult for them.
That is why we are asking for you to PLEASE HELP US BECOME BETTER READERS and WRITERS!! The materials we are asking for will enhance their phonics to become better readers and writers now and in the years to come.
