Help me give my students Galaxy tablets, scientific calculators, and headphones for access to technology and other essential tools that will enable them to enhance their skills in mathematics.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This is my 9th year in education; however, this is the first time I have had the pleasure of teaching a 7th grade Math class full of students with a variety of special needs in the heart of Brooklyn.
My students and their families do not always have the resources to purchase all the school supplies they may need to be successful throughout the year.
My classes are full of African American and Latino preteens who are smart, curious, and love to take on the challenge of learning new and interesting things. As they prepare themselves for a successful future it is imperative that they have the proper materials that would provide them with access to compete against their peers. Having a plethora of math tools and manipulatives would give them the opportunity to exceed in their Math program.
My Project
Additional technology in the classroom will allow me to customize and differentiate instruction based on the individual calculator will serve as a resource for my students to take control of their learning and apply real-world math skills on a daily basis. Headphones will allow each individual to experience math in a way that is customized to their own personal needs while not impeding the experience of the student to be going to them. Today, math and science are everywhere. Math and science are in the present and in the future. I want my students to access their learning by having the correct tools. These scientific calculators will make a tremendous impact on my students' learning, self-confidence, engagement, and understanding of mathematics.
