Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a fifth grade teacher in East Palo Alto, Ca. Many of my students have not had the opportunity to incorporate art into their schooling. The school where I teach has a high percentage of free/reduced lunch and is classified as a Title I school.

Because of the low economic misfortune of the school area where I teach, most of my students are unable to supply the necessities for succeeding in art. Art is a necessity for Kindergarten through high school and my students are not given a fair chance to succeed.

My students need various art supplies, such as clay, felt, construction paper, and paint brushes. Through this project, I am asking for an advantage for my students. With this project, my students will be able to succeed with clay projects and other projects throughout the year with construction paper and felt. These projects will allow my students to excel in art and meet the state standards. Many of my students have never had art before because of the expense. With your help, future artist may arise and all of my students will be able to enjoy learning while addressing state standards.

With your donation, you will make it possible for all my students to take the next step in their education by creating an alternative beginning to their future. With art being accessible, my students will be able to express themselves through different mediums. With out you, none of this would be possible.
